Denim Crazed

By | Fashion | No Comments

Denim is as American as baseball and apple pie.

And, let’s face it, we Americans are denim crazed! Over the years our favorite form of denim; jeans, have become a staple in most everyone’s wardrobe.

It is accepted in far more places these days than even 10 to 15 years ago. Denim does NOT just mean casual day off, yard work or, going to, say, a baseball game. Although those are great reasons to adorn the classic piece, they can be styled to take you almost anywhere.

As I say about most pieces and trends, it’s the “styling,” (after the proper fit) that can really make or break an entire look. Changing up the styling will change the overall feel of the jeans. Take them from day to night, work to weekend, casual to dressy.

White After Labor Day?

By | Fashion, Uncategorized | No Comments

YES, you can! There are some outdated “rules”in fashion that are just plain silly. One being that wearing white is unacceptable after Labor Day. It’s just not true.

I mean, let’s think about it, snow is what color? Santa’s trim is what color? White is GORGEOUS and fresh and pure so why NOT brighten up a grey winter day! White, and I mean pure white can be worn any time of year, when certain factors are taken into consideration.

For instance, fabric, the garment style and styling of the piece. Of course I would not wear a white lightweight cotton sundress in the winter even if I did layer it with a sweater or jacket. But I would wear a white wool sweater, or white jeans, or a white weather appropriate knit, for example!

We know we can wear the color in the appropriate fabric, so the next thing to consider is how you’re styling it. Can you wear it with canary yellow? You could if you have the confidence to pull it off, and again, if the fabric is weather appropriate, but I would more likely consider to pair it with darker, richer or even neutral staple colors. So the next time you want to rock white in the winter….go for it!

Consider these examples below. Also, post your own photos of white after Labor Day on Pinterest, Instagram or Facebook and share with me by using the hashtag #MyStyle and tagging @EdithHenryStyle. Your style may just end up in my next blog!
