YES, you can! There are some outdated “rules”in fashion that are just plain silly. One being that wearing white is unacceptable after Labor Day. It’s just not true.
I mean, let’s think about it, snow is what color? Santa’s trim is what color? White is GORGEOUS and fresh and pure so why NOT brighten up a grey winter day! White, and I mean pure white can be worn any time of year, when certain factors are taken into consideration.
For instance, fabric, the garment style and styling of the piece. Of course I would not wear a white lightweight cotton sundress in the winter even if I did layer it with a sweater or jacket. But I would wear a white wool sweater, or white jeans, or a white weather appropriate knit, for example!
We know we can wear the color in the appropriate fabric, so the next thing to consider is how you’re styling it. Can you wear it with canary yellow? You could if you have the confidence to pull it off, and again, if the fabric is weather appropriate, but I would more likely consider to pair it with darker, richer or even neutral staple colors. So the next time you want to rock white in the winter….go for it!
